Clinical Features of Palindromic Rheumatism in Korea(2)

Abstract
|
|
|
ackground : Palindromic rheumatism was described by Hench and Rosenberg in 1944.
The features they emphasized may be summurized as intermitternt unexplained arthritis and
periarthritis with multiple attacks that last from several hours to a week and followed by
varying symptom free periods.
Methods ; We have carried out this study about the clinical features of 150 patients with
palindromic rheumatism who were diagnosed at rheumatism center of Hanyang nversity and
report in 1991. We reviewed 150 patients with palindromic rheumatism. Forty-seven patients
received D-penicillamine therapy. Twenty-five patients received sulfasalazine therapy.
Results : Our study suggest that, for these drugs at least, a useful proportion of patients
may show a significant clinical improvement.
Conclustion ; Anti-rheumatic therapy, therefore, seems effective in relieving palindromic
rheumatism.
